This is a fan website to celebrate the music of Loleatta Holloway. Ms Holloway was famous for her sensational powerful gospel style voice. She had a huge influence on house music from its birth in the 1980′s. Loleatta sadly passed away on 21 March 2011. Her beautiful voice will live on in our hearts and souls………
Ms Holloway was born in born in Chicago Illinois in November in 1946 and started singing in the Holloway Community singers with her mother in the 1960s. She met Floyd Smith and recorded Caravan in 1971. n the late 1970s Ms. Holloway began working with the singer Dan Hartman. She can be heard on his 1979 dance-club hit “Relight My Fire,” and he wrote and produced “Love Sensation” for her.
After many other projects (see discog) she then went onto record “Crash Goes Love” that got to number 5 in the U.S Dance Chart. In the late eighties her vocal from “Love Sensation” was used in UK number 1 by Black Box “Ride On Time”. This catapulted her unique vocal style to stardom. The song was sampled on dance tracks by Cappella and Cevin Fisher, and Ms. Holloway remixed it herself in 2006, as she carried on performing on the club circuit.
Her vocal is one of the most sampled in the house music industry.
